Anti-theft antennas have a simple goal: preventing theft. When an active security tag passes through the antenna's field, the equipment triggers an audible and visual alarm, alerting store staff. They're durable, warrantied units, ideal for the store entrance, fitting rooms and access points.
Beyond the alarm, there's a deterrent effect: a visible tag on the product already reduces the attempt at theft, because the person knows the item will beep on the way out.

EAS (anti-theft) system
EAS stands for electronic article surveillance. It's the technology used to protect a store's inventory at the exit. The most common applications are supermarkets, retail stores, warehouses and high-traffic commercial venues, where merchandise theft represents a significant loss.
RF (radio frequency) technology is the most popular in fashion retail, thanks to its lower acquisition and energy costs. It loses strength near liquids and metal — which is why supermarkets and pharmacies tend to prefer AM (acousto-magnetic) technology.
Spacing the antennas
Soft (adhesive) and hard tags have different detection ranges depending on where they sit on the product. The maximum distance between antennas is usually between 0.9 and 1.2 metres, and the system needs to be calibrated before final installation to work well within the actual door gap.

A well-sized store protection system combines the right antenna (RF or AM), tags suited to each type of merchandise, and calibration done on site. That's what separates a system that "beeps for no reason" from one that actually reduces loss.
